The Family Grain Mill is the least expensive we've seen that actually works well, grinds reasonably fine, and is reasonably fast. Simple, functional design, easy to use and easy to clean. Made in Germany. 5-year limited warranty from the importer.

The importer says the Family Grain Mill will easily grind wheat, oats, rye, barley, spelt, buckwheat, millet, rice, kamut, spices, dried herbs, sesame, soybeans, etc. It will grind corn in 2 passes, but will not do popcorn because it's too hard and will damage the mill. Its hardened steel grinding burrs can produce flour much finer than other mills with similarly designed burrs. You can quickly & easily adjust for any grind from very fine flour to very coarse meal, or anything in between, using a knob on the front of the mill.

You can grind one cup of flour in about 2 minutes with hand power, or about 1.75 minutes with the motorized base, grinding as fine as possible. For bread, you can grind a little less fine, and it'll go faster.

The Flaker Mill will easily flake any small, dry grain for breakfast cereals, snacks, cookies, etc. Make your own oatmeal, or use wheat or other grains for a little variety. Lets you store grains whole instead of flaked or rolled, which greatly increases storage life. Large 5-cup feed hopper.

Hand Base: The main body of the hand base is a solid piece of quality hardwood plywood almost 1.25" thick. It clamps to any sturdy countertop or table with at least 1.5" of overhang. It'll work with a little less overhang, but won't mount quite as sturdily.

Motorized Base: The motorized base is powered by a high quality Bosch motor. It's much quieter than most electric mills; you can easily talk while it's running. With the Grain Mill attached, size is 5"w x 9.5"d x 16.5"h (hopper is 6" wide), weight is 5 lbs. -- takes very little space on the counter, or can easily be moved out of the way.
